My husband and I went to Paula's Pancakes because we saw the ratings on the Internet. The place was filthy with flies everywhere. The waitresses looked sad and their clothes were dingy. The food was nasty and the service poor! I wish we would have walked around first and found a better place before going to there. We were very disappointed!
oh yum.... AWE! You will NOT be dissappointed with this adorable place. Great service! Great food! I had the regular pancake combo plate and the fluffiest pancakes I've ever eaten. My husband had the crepe style with fruit topping and he was in heaven. The service was excellent as well.
Solvang breakfast institution serves traditional American favorites along with specialty Danish pancakes and sausage..
In Short
For nearly 40 years, this casual family-run eatery has welcomed local regulars and hungry tourists with its cutesy, country decor and sizable menu of hearty morning and noon-time comfort food. Amid lace curtain-windows and duck-themed wallpaper, friendly waitresses clad in traditional Scandinavian get-ups greet diners as they peruse the endless menu options. Specialties include thin Danish pancakes, either plain or fruit-topped, plump sausage, plus eggs, omelets and all the usual American fixings. Sandwiches, burgers and the like are offered at lunch.
I'm not a breakfast fan...but this place could change my mind!. I was visiting Solvang and decided to eat at Paula's since I've heard some very good things. I ordered an italian Omelette, it was $7.99ish and worth it! I got a big omelette, extremely fresh home made hasbrowns, and a wonderful bisquit. The server was so nice and it was a cute little restaurant. This place will definitely be on my to-do list everytime I visit Solvang. Great food, good prices, smiling faces and a family atmosphere!
Best Breakfast Place in Solvang!.
I've been to Solvang multiple times for wine-tasting trips, but I've only been to Paula's a couple of times. Their egg breakfasts (omelettes, scrambles, etc) are good and well-portioned. One thing to remember: their "sausage" comes in 2 varieties -- regular sausage patties, or a big fat Danish sausage, a la brotwurst.
But the stars of this show are definitely the Danish pancakes (super thin) and the WAFFLES with fresh strawberries and whipped cream... to die for! They also have fresh-squeezed OJ - always a big plus in my book. And don't forget about their sparkling wine... it's not so good, but with some fresh OJ who cares? Mimosas, anyone?
incredible breakfast. really, really good breakfast. the danish pancakes were to die for and the eggs benedict were absolutely perfect. we'll be back for sure.
