Excellent!!.
I've been going to Hama Sato's restaurant for over 10 years now. I love the people, I love the food. I love the prices. Mostly I eat lunch there, but occasionally, for a birthday, we have dinner and really enjoy the teppan grill. The only bad thing is, I've recently moved to Santa Barbara, so it's a bit of a drive now...but worth it!!

Good food, not so good service.
I have been to Hamasato's on three different occasions. The first time I went there with my husband and daughter we had to wait 10-15 min for someone to seat us when it was not even that busy. When the food arrived at out table, I was happy that we waited. The portions were huge. We each had a dinner that included tea, desert, and soup, as well as the entree. (That was $15 a person) The service was slow, I think the waitress only checked on us once. The next two times we went there, we waited and waited to be seated (again it was not that busy). The hostess even saw us but did not seat us. I don?t know why, we were dressed casually but not in sweats or anything. Both times we ended up walking out. After talking with my co-workers they had similar experiences. I thought it only happened to us!

Amazingly good sushi.
The best sushi on the Central Coast, by far. Just excellent nigiri, sashimi, yummmm. A bit light on sake selection, but hey, the fish is amazing.
