Great Stay. Wow! My wife and I really had a great time at this place. Their breakfast was amazing, the wine and cheese in the afternoon was superb (good company from the staff too), and our room was clean, quiet, and exactly what we were looking for. We felt like the furnishings were appropriate for the room, as it wasn't overdecorated. I hope to stay here next time I'm in town.
A fantastic place to relax and enjoy!!!. We spent a couple of nights in this great place last week after friends of ours had recommended this lovely B&B to us. We stayed in Room 3 in the main house and absolutely loved it. The room is beautiful, very clean and spacious. The sheets were incredibly soft and the bed was very comfortable. The staff is wonderful and breakfast was delicious and healthy. We also had a couple of in-room massages and loved every minute of it. The location is also very convenient because everything is pretty much walking distance. We will certainly stay here again on our next trip to this charming town.
No privacy, terrible food, rude manager.
This hotel was a disaster.
The worst feature for me was the large window in the front door to each room. The curtain was a lot smaller than the window, so several times during the night, we saw people walking past. And twice, people stopped and looked into the room, straight at us in the bed. I complained to the manager who was very rude about it. He said "It's an old hotel, what do you expect?" Well, I expect not to have people look into my bedroom. He wouldn't do anything about the curtains, so we thumbtacked some towels onto the door.
Their website touted it as a "spa". The bathroom was a typical motel bathroom with a tiny tub. The towels were stained with yellow spots. There were no spa facilities of any kind. Their idea of spa facilities is a list of masseuses who make incalls.
The breakfast waitress confided to us that the "Belgian waffles" were really just frozen Eggos. The omelet was made with reconstituted dried eggs.
We moved to the Fess Parker Hotel the next day, and were much happier.
A place like home. This B&B feels just like home. After years of staying at large, chain-style hotels, I was impressed by the atmosphere the Orchid Inn has to offer. They don’t have a huge selection of food compared to some larger hotels, but they do have enough, and the food is home made, Delicious!!!!! My boyfriend and I stayed there during the week and later went for a wine tasting trip up north. The Orchid Inn was the best part of the trip.
Do Yourself a Favor - Book A Hotel. The Orchid Inn refunded us with no hassle at my request, which I appreciate. However, it was such a nightmare I feel I must warn others like myself with fairytale desires of romance and relaxation. We booked Room 4 ($150 per night w/ tax). Their website says "private bath and private entry." The entry is not private and there is no bath - just a dingy looking shower. The room was the size of a jail cell. The inn employee said we could have Room 6 for $25 more a night and it had a spa tub. It did have a private entrance, however, the accessory pillows had stains all over them, I wiped dog hair off the comforter, the white pillow had what appeared to have a lipstick stain, the spa tub had hairline cracks all inside it from it being so old, a bad caulking job and fixtures so old they looked to be from the 20's. I can assure you I had no desire to bath in this "spa tub." There were also marks on the walls and stains on the nightstand table coverings. I decided at that point to pull the bedding back and sure enough there was a dark hair. Instead of a B&B, this was more like staying in a dingy room over the garage of an unclean family member. I promptly went down and explained the situation and was refunded in full. We ended up at the Hotel Oceania, which is on the ocean and is a nice, clean hotel with modern fixtures, refrigerator in room, pool and hot tub on premises for $187 a night including tax and parking. Spending $187 for a great hotel versus $178 for a dirty room with a spa tub I wouldn't want to bath my dog in was a great decision. I thank God I had the sense to ask for a refund so we could have a wonderful getaway instead of a nightmare.
