James House Santa Barbara

Great mother-son team, but pricey. After seeing its super-high ranking on Trip Advisor for Santa Barbara bed-and-breakfasts, we decided to give the James House a try. The only room available was the Garden Room, which ended up being a tiny room w/ an odd bathroom tub that only had a handheld showerhead and a small outdoor deck with some plants. Anyway, it was cozy, but I am accustomed to getting a lot more for $300 a nite. That said, the mom-and-son team who run the place were wonderfully accomodating and the breakfast & twilight wine-and-appetizer were fantastic. We met some really friendly Canadians on the second night, so it was a fun way to socialize w/some of the other guests. Our room thermostat wasn't able to be adjusted, so showers were a bit cool w/o the addition of a heated room, but all in all it was a really pleasant experience.
