Not Recommended. My breakfast at the Worker Bee Cafe was very disappointing. Undercooked omelette (including patches of uncooked egg) and overcooked, over-salted homefries. Plus, the service was exceptionally slow.

At the time I placed my solo order, the other six customers in the restaurant had already received their plates. Yet, it took well over a half hour for my simple omelette/home fries breakfast to arrive at my table. No excuses or apologies were offered -- in fact, the slowness wasn't even addressed by the server -- so I got the impression that 30+ minutes to cook an omelette for a lone customer was about their standard speed. I dread to think how long it would have taken if they had even more customers that day!

Sorry, but I can't recommend a breakfast restaurant that can't properly prepare a standard egg and potato breakfast ordered straight off the menu. I left the Worker Bee Cafe wishing I had gone to Garden Market instead.

Not worth the wait. The "Worker Bee Cafe" has definite curb appeal, which is why I decided to eat there. It has a cozy feel with friendly staff-everyone greets you as you walk in. The problem however is the food. First, the order took 50 minutes to get to the table, the restaurant was not overly crowded, so this seemed like an extreme wait. Once the food did arrive, the order was wrong, when I informed the waitress she bluntly said, "No, that's what you ordered." Worst of all the omelette and homefries were practically swimming in grease! It seemed as though only one egg was used, and the cheese and veggies were thrown inside as an afterthought. The toast was also somewhat soggy because so much butter was used. Needless to say, I will never be going back.

Huge portions. Once a month, my wife and I come up to the Santa Barbara area. Carpenteria is a tiny little community just south of Santa Barbara that is pretty much stuck in the 1940s and 50s.

This particular place has excellent home-style breakfasts with HUGE portions (we haven't had lunch there as yet), in a charming mom and pop restaurant. The pancakes are fluffy, tasty and measure about a foot round by a 1/2 inch thick!

No more expnsive then Dennys or any chain, and it is a LOT better!

They don't serve dinner. Their hours are 6:30 AM to 3:30PM.
