poor service, way over rated, too much hype. I have been to several of the high end resorts in and around Santa Barbara before. compared to the others Bacara was over rated and more of a hype. Although it was beautiful the service was less than motel 6, and the rooms were not maintained well. The spa and resturants were only open at certiain times. personally it was a waist of money.
A Nice Get Away.
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Bacara for a get away weekend in Santa Barbara. WOW!
The food was amazing and the service was outstanding. It so nice to get away, no cell phone just the ocean good food and good company.
A great place to relax. We always have a fantastic stay at Bacara. Great service, nice spa and just a short walk to the beach. Highly recommended.
Bacara is Overrated!. The restaurants could use some improvement as far as service and quality of food. We had some ok to not so good food here at the hotel. Because it is so far from downtown, there is really nowhere else closeby to go eat. We had dinner at their Miro restaurant which was such a bad dining experience.. no atmosphere, unusually quite and the wait for the food painfully long. It took almost four hours for a three course meal, in which half of our party left before the third course. Eight hundred dollars later, I left hungry. The pool is beautiful and the service by the pool I found excellent, but overall a disappointing experience. This was my second stay here and I think my last.
Very Romantic & Relaxing!. I was brought to the Bacara Resort & Spa by my significant other on a surprise weekend getaway for my birthday and it was breathtaking! The service staff was very very attentive and catered to every single little thing we needed....rides around the property, making dinner reservations, spa appointments, hiking appointment, and horseback riding...u name it! This place was truly the perfect place to get away from the noisy, fast-paced city (we are from Los Angeles). The entire weekend, I was so relaxed and catered to, I didn't lift a finger or had a bad thought. Their two restaurants serve great food and drinks! The pool area is gorgeous with the beach yards away. I think the courteous and warm staff makes all the difference in our experience. We have stayed at very nice places before but staff with their high-and-mighty attitudes ruin it for us most of the time...However, this was never the case at Bacara. Their spa was so-so...only because there isn't much more relaxed u can be while being on this property. :o)
AVOID THE SPA!!!.
We were at the Bacara for our friend's wedding. The scenery was beautiful, and the rooms were fine, but our experience at the spa was awful. I had an appointment for a facial and was kept waiting for an hour (in my robe and slippers) after I checked in. When I finally found someone to ask, she said she would look into it and get back to me, and then kept me waiting another ten minutes. Finally, I got fed up and changed back into my clothes and went to the desk. They told me they were "aware of my situation" and that I should reschedule! My husband then asked to speak with the spa manager, who said she was surprised that I waited so long, and after my husband questioned further, she told him that the therapist cancelled at the last minute. AT NO TIME DID ANYONE APOLOGIZE!!! We finally spoke with the hotel manager, who offered me a complimentary facial on another day. I went back and had an average facial. At the end of the facial, I was presented with a bill for the full amount! I asked to speak to the spa manager to explain that the hotel manager intended for the facial to be complimentary, to which she said "you can just sign it, we know its complimentary." When I told her that this was a bill to make charges to my room, she said, "Fine, we can put a zero balance if you feel uncomfortable".
For the same price at other upscale resorts, I have had far better treatments with professional, courteous service, and Bacara offers neither.
Wow...beautiful place.. As beautiful as the pictures in the ads. This is just a great resort. If you are into understated rather than over the top you will love it. I can't comment on the rooms because I just did a day trip, but the grounds and spa were lovely and the treatments were very good overall. I would love to come back and spend a weekend when I have more time.
Spend hours being spoiled at this posh resort spa on the beach..
The Scene
Understated luxury is the theme of this spa, located in one of several Mission-style buildings that make up this swank resort. Slip into a plush robe in the carpeted locker area, then stroll into an immense, spotless facilities area containing whirlpool, eucalyptus steam room and sauna. Cool off in one several large showers, stocked with shampoo/conditioner, body wash, towels and razors. Wait for your treatment in the quiet, light-filled waiting lounge overlooking the pool, snuggled into a comfy chair by the fireplace.
The Services
Traditional spa treatments are available, with some exotic choices (shiatsu, ayurvedic options), but true heaven is in the details: During a massage, your masseuse may place a heated towel on your back while kneading other parts, and provide a warm neck rest and eye pillows. Rooms have heavy wood doors and halls are carpeted, so there are no distractions; soft music and low lighting complete a divine experience. Be warned: Heaven will cost you.
The Details
Whirlpool, steam room, dry sauna, Swiss showers, fitness classes (fee), yoga (fee), Pilates (fee). Massage, body treatments, wet treatments, ayurvedic treatments, facials, hair removal, manicure/pedicure, full-service salon, makeup application.
Luxury on the Beach. This was the absolute best hotal I have ever been to. The rooms were beautiful, each one had a balcony, outstanding beds, and the floors were absolutely gorgeous. The hotel itself was just breathe taking and so was the view of the ocean. The pools were magnificant. Altogether it was a wonderful experience and i would recommend it to anyone vising Santa Barbara.
great hotel. Bacara Resort & Spa is a really great place to stay. We stayed there for our anniversary and the service was great. They take you around on golf carts wherever you want to go. The food was great too. They even give you nice robes and slippers to wear. It has a beautiful view, being right next to the ocean.
